The difference between ABS and PP

1. Chemical composition

ABS chemical name: acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer.

PP chemical name: polypropylene.

2. Sexuality after burning

PP: It burns quickly and easily, melts and drips, the flame is yellow and blue, and it smells of petroleum.

ABS: Slowly soften and burn, no dripping, yellow flame, black smoke, the surface is bright after fire, there will be dense small holes, and the taste has a slight sweet taste.

3. Density

The density of PP is lower than that of ABS. This means that more products of the same volume can be produced with the same weight of raw materials.

4. Hardness

ABS material has high hardness. The surface hardness of PP is low among the five general-purpose plastics, only better than PE. When the crystallinity is higher, the hardness will increase accordingly, but it is still not as good as PVC, PS, ABS, etc.

5. Electrical performance

The electrical insulation of ABS is better than that of PP. And does not accept the influence of temperature, humidity and frequency. It can be used in most environments.
